Speaker 1:

All right, Chris, welcome back. Hope you had a good night.

Speaker 2:

It was a long night, but not as long as yours, but it was a good night.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, not as long, but that's OK. We enjoy what we do and happy to be here in Hilton Head. Weather today wasn't so great, but this weekend's going to be phenomenal.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean the good thing was the rain was able to pass through before anything, any tournaments, at least for being played, or the skin game, so good to have that through. It'll be interesting tomorrow, but after that we should be all right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it'll be great, so let's go ahead and get this one started.

Speaker 3:

Yes, sir.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Golf Week Amateur Tour, the podcast. We are your hosts, Tim Newman and Chris Rocha. As the oldest and largest amateur golf tour in the country, we put on individual stroke play golf tournaments that are handicapped by flights in 48 markets across the country. The Golf Week Amateur Tour, or Hamateurs Play Like Pros Again. Welcome back, it's good to be here. You know we're at the registration for national championship here at the Hills Course in Palmetto Dunes. You know, Chris, we've been here for a couple of hours. It's been a steady stream of players.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we've got plenty of players to get through. You know we're out here. Come say hi, Grab a headset and a mic and we'll get you on for a little bit.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that'd be great. So first we've got my buddy, gary Branch, here. Gary, go ahead, and when you talk make sure the microphone is close to your mouth, all right?

Speaker 7:

There we go.

Speaker 1:

All right and we're rolling. So welcome back. Go ahead and bring the microphone up real close to you. So, Gary, let's start with you. Gary. Gary from the DC Tour. I've known Gary for probably 10 years now. I've been about eight, About eight years, Eight or nine. You had a tough year. Why don't you tell everybody what's going on?

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I had a tough year this year. I found out back in May that I had a couple blockages in my heart and I went through a triple bypass surgery which basically took me out for most of the season. I was able to come back at the end of August, get back on the course, started hitting the ball, still got a long way to go in my recovery. Thank goodness, to the good Lord, I came through the surgery and everything. I'm out here to have fun and enjoy myself with friends and compadres and the game of golf.

Speaker 1:

Well, like I told you before number one, it's good to see you here and you look great, I can tell you. I mean you also went away, but you're looking real healthy and glad you're here with us.

Speaker 4:

Yes, yeah, Over the past six months the doctors jumped on me. I needed to lose weight. I lost about 37 pounds. I checked into the hospital. I weighed in at 262. So I'm down around 225 right now.

Speaker 1:

So that's good.

Speaker 4:

Clothes don't fit like they used to. You got to go buy some or take off the pants and shirts for that fit.

Speaker 1:

That's good. At least you get to go spend a little bit more money.

Speaker 2:

No, it's good to see you. Glad you're able to make it Not easy to get through, so welcome, thank you and you're in the sea flight, and so where are you playing tomorrow?

Speaker 4:

I'm playing at a country club. I'm here. Okay, played there last year. Yeah, I played there a few times that's coming down here. I think the first time I came down I was in the flight and I moved up the sea flight and you know I'm here.

Speaker 1:

I'm here like I said I'm here, You're here and that's what we're really happy with.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, that's the most important thing, I'm here to have fun and, however it turns out, golf wise will be.

Speaker 1:

Exactly, you know, and over here on the other side we've got somebody we just had on a couple of days ago, Kevin Dick Welcome back bud.

Speaker 3:

Hey, good to meet you guys in person again.

Speaker 1:

It's so good to see you. What's going on?

Speaker 3:

Just stop the check in and get my stuff. So you guys sitting here thought I'd pop in and say hello.

Speaker 1:

I'm again number one glad to see you and number two glad you stopped by and hopefully you're going to have a good week. You know, like I said, the weather today not so good, but it's going to be nice over the weekend, so hopefully the courses will be in good shape. You know from this weather and nobody have a great time.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Got a couple of practice rounds in, hit it Okay.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Where you playing. You're in the A flight right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you're probably a golden bear tomorrow, so I've got the other course. I'll see you on Saturday.

Speaker 3:

Okay, I played golden bear yesterday. It was in really good shape.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and remember I told you that's a really nice course.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, what line.

Speaker 1:

Was it? No, it was a wonderful one.

Speaker 2:

It's probably one of my favorite ones. Last year I think you ran that one last year. And that was one of my favorite ones. I didn't play very well, but it was my favorite one.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I think Seaflight has the best rotation, of course, as though with Atlantic Dunes and Country Club at Hilton.

Speaker 2:

That's a challenge right there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

I played the Country Club Tuesday with my one buddy and it was in wonderful shape. You enjoy it.

Speaker 4:

It was. The only thing that was bad about that course was the rough was tough. Yeah, well, you're right.

Speaker 1:

That's what makes the Country Club tough, is they do grow that rough up. Otherwise it's a pretty wide open course for the most part. But when they grow that rough up you've got to search for your ball. And if you miss the fairway you're not hitting the green, no sure not? So you guys just pull out of wedge or whatever, and bump it up as much as you can.

Speaker 4:

And then go for the green, exactly.

Speaker 2:

Well, let's remember, it's the national championship too, so they're not going to make it easy on us either.

Speaker 1:

No, I'm just talking about guys who learn how to play smart.

Speaker 8:

Right.

Speaker 1:

You know that's because it doesn't matter what flight you're in Champ all the way down to D, Everybody's going to make a mistake. It's about recovering and being smart and course management. Chris, I've been trying to teach course management all year. We'll find out how well you learn.

Speaker 2:

You will, we will.

Speaker 1:

So, kevin, how are you feeling, coming down?

Speaker 3:

Well, feeling pretty good. Health wise, it's still up and down.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but that's normal for you though, right I mean? So I guess the key is that you get you're up while you're here and you can get through these, get through these rounds and play well and, and you know, going from there.

Speaker 3:

Yep, I just no matter where I'm at, I try to act like I'm at home. I try not to do anything different. So don't fall and crack in my head or something and end up in a hospital 10 hours from home.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, whatever you don't fall and crack your head. Please don't. You know I joke about it, but it's not funny. I mean it's you know, that's you know. For everybody it's serious, but for you that's really serious.

Speaker 2:

No, I my first year I came, I got into a house with a couple of guys and the first day of the tournament, one guy slipped on the stairs and he was out. So be careful out there, especially in the morning, if you're not used to this, like me, because it's not seeing rain all year and seeing it today was like you know, let me go out and run around. What is this? Falling from the sky type of thing, Exactly.

Speaker 1:

Exactly.

Speaker 3:

Just don't, don't want to flock a bird to flying over. Oh my goodness, goodness gracious. If I can give any advice to my new friend over here, just take it easy, do what the doctors tell you to take care of yourself, no matter what, and you'll bounce back in their time.

Speaker 4:

I mean, I get a lot of our friends that are here with me because watching out after me and making sure I do the right thing, and when I try to do something I probably shouldn't be doing, they take a hard look at me or say something so you sure you want to do that? Yeah, I can do that, I can handle that.

Speaker 10:

Go sit down.

Speaker 1:

Well, you know that's. That's one really good thing about the. I mean, dc2 has a lot of good things, but that's something that you know is means a lot to me. You know the family culture and the friendships that have been built over the years and how we actually look out for each other, not just at the golf course but away from the golf course. So I mean it's you guys are like family to me. This is the first year not being up there with you guys at all and you know I miss you and Jan also you know, but you got to see this in time.

Speaker 1:

They do a great job. I mean, it's you know, but you know, no, you can't replace Jen. You can, I'm easily reputable, you can't replace Jen. So alright, guys. Well, thanks so much for coming. I really do appreciate you stopping in and talking with us for a few minutes and good luck and we'll see you. I'll see you. I'll see you for sure on Saturday, but hopefully see you guys throughout the week. We'll see you.

Speaker 4:

I'll see you. I'll see you.

Speaker 1:

There you go, you know who announces all?

Speaker 2:

the winners right.

Speaker 6:

Yes, we know, that's me.

Speaker 1:

All right, All right, bud, All right, Thank you. All right, you guys take care. You know, Chris, we just had, you know, two guys that you know have had some health struggles and that's just a fraction, you know, of our membership. Oh yeah, I know, you know, just talking to two directors last night, you know them telling us some some things that go on their lives and some of their players lives, and to me it comes back to. You know, yes, we're competitive golf league. Yes, this is a national championship and some of them are national championship, but this tournament means a lot to so many people. You know this is what they, what they work for all year not only play golf but to see, see people that they haven't seen all year and friendships that have been made.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, definitely. I mean like we talked about last night with Cephas. You know I met the guy four years ago as a cart partner and every time I see him it's a big bear hug from him. So it's you meet numerous people. I can't wait to see who I'm going to play with tomorrow and meet them Right, and I'm going to spend a couple hours with the Arizona guys today to go play some top tracer and had to show them what was up.

Speaker 1:

You did top tracer in the rain.

Speaker 2:

No, no, the record before we got here. Ok, it was, the mat was soggy, so it was funny to hit and you see a little splash of water, but it's just good to be able to see these people and hang out with them we talk about all the time. This tour is more than just golf. It's a family environment and just can't wait to see what this weekend holds for us.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I think it's going to be a great weekend. Like I said, the weather was tough, a little tough today, but it's going to be great.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, my allergies apparently are acting up or something's acting up because today was different. Maybe it was the cold and the rain. I'm not used to that. I don't even know what rain is, but there's one of my members.

Speaker 1:

Who we got coming over here.

Speaker 2:

This is Steven. He's actually a new member this year. Take a seat. Take a seat how you doing.

Speaker 1:

Go ahead and put the headphones on, take a seat.

Speaker 2:

Put the headphones on and then speak close to the mic. Oh man, you have to scoot in. Come this way so we can get you in that camera. So.

Speaker 1:

Steven get up close up there.

Speaker 2:

How you doing. Yeah, so this is Steven, new member this year, you know, texting me out of the blue asking me about the tour, got him on as a I'm sorry, as a guest, didn't you? Yeah, no, no, no, I think you might have. And then he signed up right away.

Speaker 1:

Of course he does. You know, once we get a guest to play a tournament, we hook him.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and then played every tournament. After that went to TPC Scottsdale. Played there. Brings his daughter most of the time.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that's awesome.

Speaker 2:

So she hangs out with us and yeah, I mean we. He had a great time.

Speaker 1:

What, steven? What? What flight are you in bud?

Speaker 2:

I'm in C flight, all right.

Speaker 1:

Well, he started it Hold on now. So we got to see, we got to see flight battle over here. We just got John Lewis from from Atlanta. John, welcome, bud, Thank you. Now. So he's a new guy, but you've been around for a while, so. So what real advice can you give him?

Speaker 10:

Well, on the national stage, not much. This is my actual first national tournament. You know, my son plays college football for Louisiana Tech, so normally I'm traveling with the football team. So they have a buy this week so I'm here.

Speaker 1:

So you got with a coach and made sure that schedule worked out this year Absolutely.

Speaker 2:

Well, you come out and play UTEP. Isn't UTEP in your, in your conference?

Speaker 10:

Yes, I was in El Paso a couple of weeks ago. We won that game, so that's one of three we won.

Speaker 2:

Well, now you know, next time you're there, you give us a call and we'll. We'll go play some golf. Oh, good deal. So you're in El Paso. I'm the El Paso director out there.

Speaker 10:

So yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Even, even if it's during the week, we'll get together and play some golf.

Speaker 10:

Oh, that's outstanding. Yeah, cause I stayed at the Marriott right there at the airport Yup and I forgot the. Went to a couple of restaurants, nice food, everything was great.

Speaker 2:

So now you know some, you know two people from El Paso.

Speaker 1:

Now, absolutely, so, steve, what was your best tournament this year?

Speaker 3:

Oh man, probably NMSU, new Mexico State University. Okay yeah, I think I shot 83 up there.

Speaker 1:

That's pretty good.

Speaker 3:

But I got away with a lot of mistakes, so that's why it's a favorite.

Speaker 2:

And then he moved up after that. Don't give me that look. Don't give me that look. We had this discussion.

Speaker 1:

So so the the one thing I will tell you, though coming from El Paso, you're not going to be able to hit the ball as far.

Speaker 3:

I understand that.

Speaker 1:

All right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, Coming up here, I went and used the top tracer and it's one or two clubs and I'm very upset with that. But you got to do what you got to do?

Speaker 1:

I mean, I'm not sure what it is right. Why be upset with reality, right, Right.

Speaker 2:

I mean it's what are you going to do, Right? And for all those new players that are coming out that aren't used to that, get over in the first couple of holes, Cause if you don't, you're going to have a horrible weekend, exactly.

Speaker 3:

Exactly, I mean just a month ago, where what TPC, scottsdale, yep, all the ball was traveling out there. Yeah, complete different.

Speaker 2:

I wouldn't know.

Speaker 1:

I wouldn't know when I can talk about it. So so, John, what, what, what was your best tournament this year?

Speaker 10:

I think I shot a 80 81 at Harbor club. Got lucky, made some loan putts.

Speaker 1:

but Well, harbor club was. You know, we're going to keep it clean, but that was an interesting tournament.

Speaker 10:

Absolutely.

Speaker 1:

So so we had. So this is the second year that we've we've done a joint event with Augusta there, and this year there was a major storm came through and almost every road into the course. So so where, where this course is, it's kind of want to put an instant right Right. So every road into the to the course was blocked.

Speaker 1:

Because of the rain because the trees were down and everything else, and so we had tea times, I think, starting at like 10 o'clock or 11 o'clock, something like that, and everybody was calling can't make it, can't make it. And we were just, I mean, as soon as we got four people ready to go, we started sending them off so you could have been a champ player playing with a D flight, a B flight, a flight, I mean, and it was. It was a mess, we got it all in and I think it was a real good round, but I think it was only two people couldn't make it.

Speaker 1:

And which which sucks, but I mean it is, it is what it is. It happens, and you shot a really good round, like I think that was a career round for you, right, it was? Yeah, and I think Atlanta came home with, took home all the trophies except for a champ flight. Yeah, and guess who won a champ flight? So so that's, that's where we're at. You know it's it. You never know down here, but, understanding, you're not going to be able to hit the ball as far, and you know, just be patient.

Speaker 3:

And the ground is going to be a lot different too. That's what I'm thinking.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the grass is very different. We might put the ball in the front of the stands, you do you. And I also think that I also think that sea flight you guys have probably the best rotation, of course, this year, with the landing dunes and country club at Hilton.

Speaker 10:

Atlantic dunes is beautiful. I rode the course yesterday. This kind of ride it.

Speaker 3:

It's beautiful have you seen it yet? No, I haven't seen it. It's my first time in this part of the country.

Speaker 10:

Oh, wow, yeah, Beautiful clubhouse. The course is immaculate shape. I mean, it's probably you know it's top notch.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's top notch yeah.

Speaker 2:

Does that why, for anybody that is listening or watching, if you're planning on warming up, get there early. Yes, so some of these courses have tiny ranges that people take their time.

Speaker 1:

Well, atlantic dunes has probably one of the best practice facilities, true Around. I mean, you got a lot of places out there, but you get there too early. It's going to be dark, yeah Right, so you can't really. I mean, that's probably when you hit your best shots because you can't see them right, but it's going to be dark.

Speaker 10:

We're just looking for a field this weekend. Oh yeah, it's going to be an outstanding time. I'm excited.

Speaker 1:

So what else are you looking forward to for being here?

Speaker 10:

Just meeting you know golfers throughout the country and just trying to put my best foot forward and play a great, great three rounds of golf and hopefully I'm up near the top yeah.

Speaker 1:

Well, we brought a good crew of people. I haven't said this yet, but we have more people from our tour here than any other tour in the country.

Speaker 2:

Wow, Hold on, though I know he's going to say so, then there's no team cup here being announced to yourself. Well, you know what? You have the best chance.

Speaker 1:

Actually we don't, because we don't have one champ guy. We only have one champ player. So that I mean not that that that Changa can't play. Chang is a really good player, right, but you know how it is the best way to win is if you're four or five deep.

Speaker 2:

Right, right.

Speaker 1:

And you really need to be four or five deep and champ-flung. You can be two or three deep at every place else, but you got to be four or five deep and champ-flung. We've got a good shot and I love our guys. I mean like, so we, we, we brought 39. We finished with 159 members for the year Most we've ever had in Atlanta and we brought 39 players, which is again the most we've ever had for Atlanta. And so I'm really proud of our guys because again it's our guys and and you know, make sure, make sure you tell them You're saying, with a bunch of them, how proud I am of you are, on what you all accomplish.

Speaker 10:

Absolutely. I'll definitely pass the word along, right.

Speaker 1:

Well, thanks, guys, thanks for sitting down with us for a little bit, and we'll see you and good luck.

Speaker 10:

Thank you guys, and thank you all for putting on an outstanding tournament.

Speaker 2:

Bye buddy. Thank you guys, I'm excited. All right, take care Awesome.

Speaker 10:

Thanks bud.

Speaker 1:

I appreciate it, take care.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, man, so new member.

Speaker 5:

That's all I wanted to come out. That's awesome, super excited.

Speaker 1:

Take care, bud, have fun. Yeah, and again, you know you get new members and and and you get them to come here.

Speaker 2:

You know, you know for good, oh yeah, for sure, for sure, All right so let's talk about some some courses here.

Speaker 1:

Yep, Crowd starting the pile in.

Speaker 5:

It is a check in which is nice.

Speaker 2:

All right. So you know, we talked a little bit about scene flight already but let's start with Champlain.

Speaker 1:

You know they're. They're lucky that they get to play one course all the time. Yep, and they're playing the Jones course, which is just absolutely phenomenal.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's a huge challenge, you know you can't really miss left to right. You got, you got the couple holds by the beach.

Speaker 1:

And don't don't be hanging around taking pictures of you.

Speaker 2:

You know, you're there to play golf right, right, but the fact that they get to play the same course three days, you know, with our motto amateurs up there, like Rose I mean they get the chance to play like like live golfers, with three rounds of the same course. We just don't have all the cheering that they get.

Speaker 1:

No, no, we don't, we don't. So, uh-oh, we got a couple of James brothers over here.

Speaker 2:

We've done this month and we know how that ended.

Speaker 5:

Exactly.

Speaker 2:

Put it up, yeah.

Speaker 8:

What, what? What's the golf channel name? The golf, the golf.

Speaker 2:

We're trying to get more brothers, but they're over there chit chat with everybody else.

Speaker 5:

Come on, Tony.

Speaker 1:

Come on, sit down, bud. Yeah, we're live too. We're on camera, so go ahead and put the headphones on and when you talk, make sure it's real close to your mouth there.

Speaker 7:

All right, all right. What's up gentlemen, what's up guys? It's so good to see you guys. Yeah, good to see y'all too.

Speaker 1:

So you know the uh you were going to come play with us a couple of weeks ago, but you went to um, you went to Charlotte, right?

Speaker 7:

Yep, yep, I went to.

Speaker 1:

Charlotte, how was it up there?

Speaker 7:

It was pretty good. It was pretty good, real nice golf course. Okay, play one that great, but hey, really.

Speaker 2:

It's usually either one of the other. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's rare to get both.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, yeah, it was pretty good, I like that that's real good.

Speaker 1:

When was the last time you played here? No, I did.

Speaker 7:

In a tournament About two weeks ago.

Speaker 1:

And how was that?

Speaker 8:

I won.

Speaker 1:

Sorry.

Speaker 8:

Sorry, sorry.

Speaker 5:

Sorry.

Speaker 1:

So do you is the whole family here now.

Speaker 7:

No, we got. Tyrone should be here real soon.

Speaker 8:

Okay, yeah All right, it's four of us played.

Speaker 7:

Yep, okay, me, oh, yeah, and that way we can go and tell that story about Tyrone. Yeah, that's good.

Speaker 1:

You want to do it now or no?

Speaker 2:

he need to be here.

Speaker 13:

I think this doesn't have to be off air too.

Speaker 2:

All right, but we will get that story.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, you have to look on his face.

Speaker 1:

Well, guys, thanks for coming, you guys are going in. We only have we only have four bikes, but if you want to want to come on up and get close, charlie.

Speaker 8:

Come on, charlie, you tell me you, charlie.

Speaker 7:

You say hi oh, you know what? Yeah, we live All right. How's it going? Good, how you doing, I'm doing great. It's coming here to have a lot of fun and hopefully we in some I can't imagine that you guys go anywhere and don't have fun. I ain't been nowhere yet.

Speaker 2:

Well, when it happens, if it ever happens, we need to hear that story too.

Speaker 7:

Oh exactly.

Speaker 5:

We have stories to tell, nice, nice.

Speaker 8:

Yes.

Speaker 7:

I do.

Speaker 1:

Well, guys, thanks so much for joining us and looking forward to seeing you guys and have a good time this weekend.

Speaker 7:

Okay, all right now. All right guys, hopefully you see me in the winter truck.

Speaker 1:

There you go. I hope so too.

Speaker 2:

That's what I'm going to do, you and 800 other people.

Speaker 1:

Exactly.

Speaker 8:

Hey, 800 don't count, I will be that war.

Speaker 7:

All right.

Speaker 1:

I have good one. I have good one. Tell you what man you know, what, chris, I would love you know to be a fly on a wall when they're all together.

Speaker 2:

Oh you know, I bet that's a heck of a time.

Speaker 1:

That would be interesting All right, so we got another guest here. Let's show everybody who you are before we introduce you, why we got to have you on.

Speaker 13:

Yes, my name is Zach Williams out of the Tampa tournament. Okay, and just transferred up to Nashville next year.

Speaker 14:

Are you?

Speaker 13:

really.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 13:

I just moved up there two months ago. Well you'll have Nashville D-Flight.

Speaker 2:

D-Flight D-Flight. Okay, you look like a champ fighter. That's why I asked.

Speaker 1:

Based on what he did. You know I Right so um. So before we tell you what he did, I'm going to tell you his email is lucklessdigitalcom is at lucklessdigitalcom. Now, when I saw that I had to laugh. I had to laugh because Zach didn't have one, didn't just have two, but he finished with three whole in ones in tournaments this year. Yeah, in golf In golf league tournaments. So I mean, zach, you gotta tell us what was going on.

Speaker 13:

Yeah, um, I'm a COVID golfer. I just started golfing three years ago, okay, um, and I'm obsessive, so I own my own business. Um, entrepreneur mindset kind of runs in my mentality and I practice probably five days a week. Okay, um, super obsessive golf. Uh, I would say I shouldn't be in the plate. It's just I've had several tournaments where I blew up, shot 100 round scores. Um, yeah, what do you want?

Speaker 1:

to know. So let's go to the first one. What happened on the first one?

Speaker 13:

Uh, february, I think it was February 26th it was at Brookville Country Club in Florida, um another hundred 102 round, but it was on hole number nine. I think we had four holes to go. And we're in the middle of conversation. I just got up and just hit it and it was 155. I hit nine iron. I flew it about two yards past the hole, spun it back into the cup and went absolutely bonkers that's the first one ever.

Speaker 1:

That's your first. So that's your first one ever. Yeah, how much money did you make off that?

Speaker 13:

I can't say just that, well, yeah, I can't 900 and I think 906 dollars on that one.

Speaker 2:

That's not bad, and that with that skin super skin, super skin yeah, holding one pot Okay.

Speaker 7:

Awesome, that's awesome it was a good one.

Speaker 13:

It was a good one.

Speaker 1:

Surprisingly, enough.

Speaker 13:

there's another guy in the same tournament that got a hole in one the same day, oh really, and uh, on a different hole. He didn't get in a hole in one pot, so I took the whole thing for myself, you see you see any deep fighter out there that doesn't think they can do it.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 2:

You just get in and if it happens, it happens, if it doesn't, it doesn't, but at least you get it Right. That's five bucks.

Speaker 1:

And I would say always make a donation, because you never you never know you never, know? Yeah, Especially when you're down here. You know, for skins game it costs 20 bucks a day. It's in cost 60 dollars. You only paid $650. What's another 60 and you could literally walk out with almost $2,000. Yeah, Pay for a week.

Speaker 2:

I mean, this is the second deep fighter.

Speaker 1:

I've heard that has a hole in one. Yeah, we had one in Atlanta too Well.

Speaker 2:

we had a couple years back at the TPC Scottsdale event. Okay, On hole 16, deep, fighter tops it. It runs all the way up onto the green and goes in. Wow, I mean, I think it got. It got like three inches of airtime.

Speaker 1:

Whatever, it's not. How many, right? Yeah, yeah, my goodness. All right, so tell us about your second one.

Speaker 13:

Second one was that, my favorite course, the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota. I was having the round of my life. Actually, surprisingly, the first eight holes I was even par and I thought this is it.

Speaker 13:

This is finally going to be the round that I you know I get close to low 80s, break 80 and then two holes. So the first eight, nine and 10, I ended up shanking to the right OB. The triple bogey, triple bogey. The next hole, I got par. Next hole, I got a bogey. And then the hole. After that, the hole in one, and that was an expensive one. I made a lot of money in skins money, but I lost a lot of money in beer tabs.

Speaker 1:

Well that's all right though. That's all right though.

Speaker 2:

All right, so I got this question for both of you Hole in one. You buying it for everybody in the room or anybody everybody that was in your group.

Speaker 13:

I would think. In my opinion, I think it should be the group. The tournament is expensive so I did the group on the first one and it was like 40 bucks. I bought them whatever they wanted for drinks. Fortunately the bar was shut down so it was only part girl. The second one was the entire tournament. That cost me like pretty close to a thousand dollars on drinks.

Speaker 1:

How much did you win?

Speaker 13:

I mean, that one broke, so I won the tournament. Hole in one pot was not as big and then I think that when I was like 800 something, so I lost money on that you still haven't answered the question.

Speaker 1:

All right. So I've got one hole in one of the tournament. Okay, one hole in one of my life, and I would say that you buy it for everybody. But here's when I got it, we were at it, we were in a dry county, so there was no alcohol.

Speaker 5:

Wow.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it was a dry county, so there was no alcohol. We brought her home. But I mean, it's right.

Speaker 13:

Right, what are?

Speaker 1:

you gonna do? Sorry guys.

Speaker 13:

That's beautiful.

Speaker 1:

It was, you know whatever, but I mean I don't care. I mean I just got a hole in one. I mean I don't care, you know it is what it?

Speaker 4:

is.

Speaker 1:

Exactly, you know, I didn't want to care Seriously, I mean right, whatever, and then your third one what?

Speaker 13:

about your third one. Third one was in August in this brook. It was my last tournament in Tampa and it was the second hole we played. It was surprising because we started off on the first hole and I thought the tournament's going completely south. I topped the five wood into some somebody's backyard but fortunately they had a retaining ball so bounced in back into play, finished that hole apart and then the next hole was a par three surrounded by water and hit nine iron again it was 156 yards, like five yards past spun it back into the hole. That one I just laughed on like I was completely just stunned that it happened three times in the center.

Speaker 1:

That's insane it is. And how much you went in the par three.

Speaker 2:

The hole in one pot wasn't that big.

Speaker 13:

The hole in one was only like 130 bucks. That one, the total total one because I won the tournament and the skin super skin hole in one pot it was like 960 something. That's awesome All the clubs I bought this year. I bought a Scotty Cameron putter bought a putting training mat, a bunch of stuff. It's all from the winnings, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, minus the beer tab.

Speaker 13:

Yeah, minus the beer tab. That doesn't count to my fiance. Don't tell her you didn't hear from me you didn't hear from me.

Speaker 1:

So you just moved to Nashville, so you're going to play up there. So are you moving your business up there, or or?

Speaker 13:

so my business is virtual. Okay, we have 78 employees that live all over the world.

Speaker 1:

Oh, wow, okay.

Speaker 13:

So it's pretty much wherever you want to be, okay. But yeah, my fiance is a home builder so she transferred up there to build homes and yeah, we just moved up there for land Lands cheaper than it is for the. It's much cheaper, so what's with the?

Speaker 1:

it is. How'd you go with it with?

Speaker 13:

luckless. Yeah, so I was 19 years old. Surprisingly enough, I flunked out of Penn State and I was a typical millennial kid where I felt entitled up to that point in my life and then I recognized like nothing's going to be handed to me. So it was create your own. Luck was like the mindset, like I was trying to establish within myself and that's where luckless when I started my business. That's where luckless came from.

Speaker 1:

That's all for your own luck. But you know, holding ones are it's really luck, I mean. I mean, if you got these guys are making millions, of millions of dollars hand over fist, that you only have a handful of them, it's luck. And and foodie at three in a year, I think that's just just a good great year.

Speaker 2:

Yeah for sure. Congratulations.

Speaker 1:

Well, thanks so much for for spending some time with us. I appreciate it. Congratulations I hope you get one here.

Speaker 13:

I know that's gonna be an expensive time.

Speaker 2:

No, unless you keep it to your group.

Speaker 1:

There, you go. As long as you get in skins, you're gonna make some money. That's it, because I mean, you know, deep, deep, deep flight skin could, could get you a thousand months, absolutely Easy.

Speaker 13:

Easy. So for everybody in the flight watching if I get a whole one, I'm only paying it out to my group.

Speaker 1:

So he already called a shot.

Speaker 2:

Yeah well, he's grouping us. It's good.

Speaker 13:

You guys, Absolutely All right guys, all right, take care, that's awesome.

Speaker 3:

Dude, how about that?

Speaker 2:

Three holes in one. So when I, when. I got here, I parked right next to Dennis, okay, and you should have seen his face when he's telling me about this guy how excited he was.

Speaker 5:

And I'm just like yeah, we're interviewing him.

Speaker 2:

What you got him off? Yeah, we're gonna have a good time.

Speaker 1:

Dude, that's, that's, that's absolutely Absolutely so well, if the viewers could see this.

Speaker 2:

This room is packed with offers.

Speaker 1:

It really is.

Speaker 2:

I feel bad for the people handing out good event.

Speaker 1:

But I'm not sure why they're not outside, I mean, it's not raining anymore.

Speaker 2:

Exactly, maybe too cold for Wendy, never mind. So, let's go back to the courses, like we were talking about. So champ flight gets to be live golfers this week and play the same course.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and again, that's a good course. A flight is a golden bear and the cup course at Pomeo metal Hall.

Speaker 2:

I don't think I've ever played the cup course. I played golden bear last year, love the course. I even bought a flag to put in my office because I like the course so much, so that was fun. But I don't think I've ever played the cup course.

Speaker 1:

The cup course. I'm not playing, but I've been reading it. It's nice. I'm not playing golf.

Speaker 2:

You're going to talk right in here, as close as you can.

Speaker 11:

Okay, what's your name?

Speaker 2:

My son's name is Caden.

Speaker 1:

Who's your dad? Kelvin, I know your dad. He's a good guy, so you like being here in Hilton Head. Yes, when are you going to start playing golf? I've been playing golf for seven years.

Speaker 2:

How old are you now? Nine, oh, that's awesome.

Speaker 1:

When are you going to come play with us Next year? Yeah, tell your dad he's got to step it up and get you on the tour and come out playing with us.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Okay, we've had kids your age 10, 11, 12 years old playing, so we need to get you out.

Speaker 2:

We had a 13-year-old we had a beef plate. Yep Okay. So that's the goal right there to be the youngest one to win Okay.

Speaker 1:

So how much do you play?

Speaker 11:

I mean maybe once or twice a week.

Speaker 1:

Oh, man, you play more than I do.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

Good gosh. So what's your favorite part about golf? Pretty much everything, pretty much everything. Do you play with your dad a lot? Yeah, all right To me. That was always one of my favorite parts of playing golf with my dad.

Speaker 3:

Did he let you win so hard so?

Speaker 1:

hard, not my dad. My dad didn't let me win. And who do we have over here?

Speaker 11:

Kylie, that's my sister.

Speaker 1:

Your name's Kylie and your sister huh. Yeah, that's awesome. Well, thank you so much for joining us. Do you play golf too? Yeah, yeah, how long have you been playing?

Speaker 11:

Two years.

Speaker 1:

Two years, my goodness gracious.

Speaker 2:

I'm hoping to have a brother, sister, champion.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, and I'm hoping that they beat your dad too.

Speaker 2:

He's here, I'm gonna win.

Speaker 11:

I've been playing for 10 years. I'm gonna win every tournament I do.

Speaker 1:

I hope so.

Speaker 2:

And then we'll have you on again.

Speaker 11:

She wants to be in the LPGA. No, I don't. She's already in the PGA Junior with me. I just want to do it because I'm going to earn $1 million, $1 million $1 million, $1 million.

Speaker 1:

Well, I hope that you do. I hope that you do, and how old are you?

Speaker 11:

I'm seven.

Speaker 1:

You're seven. Okay, that's awesome. Do you all play together?

Speaker 11:

Yes, Maybe my brother's like. He played better than me, even though he looked like him. I play better than him, wow.

Speaker 5:

Wow, they're throwing down man, man, man, man Okay.

Speaker 1:

Calvin, you're doing something right, because they're already on each other. I mean 79 years old. They're giving it to each other. Well, thank you all, thank you all so much for coming and joining us. I really appreciate it. You both put a smile on my face. What?

Speaker 11:

See man, that's what it is.

Speaker 5:

Absolutely, absolutely.

Speaker 2:

And I think with us, with us doing this, we're going to constantly be seeing. You know, sons, daughters yeah, I hope so and you know, hopefully we get.

Speaker 1:

Get more father, son, daughter, even more sons, right, right. One of the things I think that general needs to do is to get to get younger and more diverse in terms of having more family, right, I mean that's, we're going to die as a, we're going to die as a, as a family, as a sport, if we don't do that. Because if you look around us, we're I mean not you, but most other people were we're getting old, right, so we have to start catering or Appealing to the younger generation. I mean, I think you know we're seeing that now, especially at the top.

Speaker 2:

With them broadcasting at the same time, things like that. I mean, even though we're not, we're not, we're not, we're not broadcasting at the same time, things like that. I mean, even here, if you look at the director's director's room, it's not just all males, no it's not. We've got females running these tours.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 2:

Having to deal with 60, 70, 80 men At a tournament and keeping everything cool, and that's not easy for them to deal with one.

Speaker 1:

Right. And so I mean I'm just going to pick out two, right? I mean, well, I'm going to pick out three of them, okay, so you've got Michelle in Michigan. Phenomenal, I mean 200 plus members.

Speaker 1:

That's two of the records we have. You've got Gina in Louisiana and North. I mean things that she's done, she's taken over just phenomenal. The guys are their lover. I mean she's grown membership, growing rounds, played, and then you go to Augusta, which is right around the corner. Right, and actually that's what Kellen Hughes, kellen Hughes kids that were just here they play in Augusta with Chancellor taking over for her grandfather, phil Yep, and she's doing a really good job over there.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, definitely. It's going to be great to see. As long as we do this, we're going to keep seeing that change and get more closer to 50 percent than what we probably would even imagine.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, let's hope so. All right, let's go back to the courses. So it's a golden bear again, great course and the cup course over at Palmetto Hall. I was talking to Dennis last night and he was going through the whole of the Mac course and like that I've never played there, but it's really nice.

Speaker 9:

Nice.

Speaker 2:

And then B-Fly. I think Hampton Hall is one which I don't recall if I played it or not. I might have played it as a practice round with just some random people, but I don't know. I hear it's really open. And birdie machine I mean HB last year shut down 62, but I'm not planning on seeing a 62, but I'll take a 62 for a minute. Maybe get with me. After 13 holes I'll tell you where? I'm at and then the other one is.

Speaker 1:

The Hill Scores right here, Palmetto.

Speaker 2:

Oh, so I don't even have to go anywhere. I can just play and hang out Even better See.

Speaker 1:

So I mean the yeah, you want to see. Yes, so the Hampton Hall course is, like I said, wide open. It's one of my favorites because it's so wide open and you can score there and the Hill Scores. So you know, a number of years ago we had the Hurricane here, so I played here before the Hurricane and then I played here after the Hurricane and we lost. They lost a ton of trees here and it's still probably one of the most difficult courses that we've played.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, I mean it's a fun course, it's a fair course, but it's it's not easy.

Speaker 2:

It's going to be a fun weekend, so it's going to be a fun weekend.

Speaker 1:

And then, you know, we've talked about sea flight with the, you know, country Club of Hilton Head and Atlantic Dunes. So who do we have coming up now?

Speaker 2:

Grab a seat.

Speaker 1:

Grab a seat, all right. So we've got Nick Taylor from DC. Nick, go ahead and put the headphones on and when you talk, make sure the microphone is close to your mouth. Here, bud, and who's our other guest?

Speaker 6:

Hey Don.

Speaker 1:

Good, what's your name?

Speaker 6:

Daniel Adams.

Speaker 1:

Daniel, make sure you speak real close. Daniel. What, what's where you from bud?

Speaker 6:

I'm from the South Florida.

Speaker 1:

South Florida what flight?

Speaker 6:

Champlain.

Speaker 1:

Oh, awesome, ok, so, nick, you're. I got moved from D-Flight to C-Flight.

Speaker 2:

It's OK.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's real good and you know we've had a lot of C-Flight guys on it and, like I said, told you earlier, I think you C-Flight has probably the best rotation. What are you looking forward to this year?

Speaker 9:

A different level of competition. You know, D-Flight was a lot of fun for a couple of years and had a really good year here last year, obviously.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, you finished the second place.

Speaker 9:

Second place, but looking forward to a different level of competition, looking forward to riding in the car with some new people and getting to meet some new friends, because that's really the best part of being here is getting to meet people from all over the country, and when you go travel to regionals, you already know some of these people.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely, absolutely OK.

Speaker 2:

What are you looking forward to?

Speaker 6:

I don't know, this is my first time here. Oh, at the national tournament it's only my second time on tour. Second year on tour.

Speaker 2:

OK, how did you finish on your regular tour?

Speaker 6:

season Second place OK.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, not bad I did.

Speaker 6:

OK, I didn't play enough tournaments to get into the top. The guy beat me out on points. Oh, I got that.

Speaker 1:

Well, you're playing the Jones course and I mean you're going to love it. I mean it's really a tale of two courses. The front's kind of tight and then the back is wide open until you get back, until you get to 16, 17, 18. But you know it's, you know what? Don't you make the turn on that back nine and you got that long par five hitting right into the ocean. I mean, it's a, it's a spectacular, I think it's probably the best way to describe it.

Speaker 2:

Did you get to play it all?

Speaker 6:

No, I haven't played it all. I just played in the skins game as a player. I got here last night, oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

So then, like we talked about earlier, don't get caught up in the beauty of those beach holes, because they're going to get you. Maybe take your picture your first day and focus on the rest, because it's nice.

Speaker 1:

Did you make any money in the skins game?

Speaker 6:

I won the only skin.

Speaker 1:

Oh, there we go yeah $2,700. Jimmy Crickets man.

Speaker 9:

That was the eagle.

Speaker 1:

So your weekend's paid for.

Speaker 2:

That's it. If your pocket's a little heavy, I can help you out with that.

Speaker 1:

Man. So what hole was it?

Speaker 6:

Number nine at Dolphin Head. Yeah, I had a driver six iron to like three feet and tap it in.

Speaker 9:

And that's why I'm not in Champlain.

Speaker 1:

And I've got no words. I just shake my head.

Speaker 2:

Driver. Six iron for me is on the par four. That was into the lens.

Speaker 1:

Oh see, rub it in, rub it in.

Speaker 2:

Driver six iron is par four for me here. That's a congratulations.

Speaker 6:

That's awesome, the funny thing is, another guy in our group actually had like a 10 footer for eagle and he looked it out right before me, so I was like, yeah, that sucks.

Speaker 1:

Oh man.

Speaker 6:

I told him I might have to miss mine if he made it.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's funny.

Speaker 6:

Yeah, I was the only eagle and nobody birdie day at all.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that is surprising. Yeah, do you have any other season highlights?

Speaker 6:

I think I won three times. Okay, shot on the bar once around our most of the time. Okay, yeah, I know other like big highlights.

Speaker 1:

But we just talked to a guy, had three hole in one, yeah, yeah that's tough yeah, three, three.

Speaker 2:

In the same year. In the same year, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6:

And apparently he's been in the same year.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, and apparently he's moving to Nashville next year, so he's taking all that money with him and you guys got.

Speaker 6:

Start over. He was in the Tampa tour, right yeah.

Speaker 1:

So how, how, how, I took the year for you.

Speaker 9:

I was a little bit more involved with the tour this year, helping, helping see this in time a lot with getting things started, getting set up. You know, being the starter most of the year and it was just seeing a different side of things and truly getting to a point where you understand what really goes into running an event, just a simple one day tournament. You know that we all take for granted, we show up, we play our way too long round the golf that's usually five to six hours that we all hate, right. And then you know you don't think about the fact that the guys that are there setting up or there are three hours before the first tea time and they're there two or three hours after everybody finishes. And seeing that just gave me a whole new appreciation for what our tour directors do and I felt like you know, I highlight for me was I did improve this year. You know when I, when I finished second last year here I barely made the cut off to get into seat light, I think I was like 18.9.

Speaker 4:

Okay.

Speaker 9:

And then I improved my handicap by almost three strokes this year and I would have had a chance, like you, to win my points. But I got involved in coaching my kids in baseball and softball and I lost out on the points because I missed our local tour finals, which was a two day, two, one days, and I didn't play in my third regional or I could have won the points in seat light, which would have been three years in a row as points champion.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but more importantly, you were coaching.

Speaker 9:

It's a double edge story there, yeah very much, so you know you got to do the right thing with the kids and I chose to be a parent, right. You know it's kind of bittersweet because I was right there and I know I could have done it. I just I could because I had other commitments.

Speaker 2:

There's nothing to be upset about that.

Speaker 9:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And sometimes I wanted it could be a blessing in disguise. So you know, as a, as a, for example, you know we've had Luke Bowen on. You know a number of times. So he's the guy with the tattoo on his arm, and you know, I looked at the pairings and he got paired with Joe Jaspers. This is his first time, yeah, so here, all right, you know. Welcome to the national championship. Exactly. So who are you paired with?

Speaker 6:

I'm not even sure.

Speaker 1:

I'm sure. Okay, I know it's nobody come on to it, and maybe that's probably the best way to look at it too. Don't don't be bothered to care Just play your game. Yeah, I had a blast today.

Speaker 6:

Who did you play with today?

Speaker 1:

Don't give me last names, but JB, justin and Randy.

Speaker 6:

Okay, they were all from, I think one from.

Speaker 1:

Kansas. One from.

Speaker 6:

Michigan and another one from Michigan? Okay, can't remember. They're nowhere near me, so that was for the You're going to have a good time. The differences in the courses there. That's probably the most extreme you can get Michigan, south Florida you know, right, right.

Speaker 1:

So you know, I'm not sure if you're going to get that.

Speaker 9:

I'm not sure, I'm not sure, I'm not going to go to Michigan, south Florida, you know, right, right.

Speaker 2:

Exactly.

Speaker 6:

That's what's great about this Exact because they had a couple of them. I think had never played on Bermuda greens before, so I was like getting the ball tips about reading the grain and stuff like that and that's stuff you don't think about.

Speaker 10:

You know playing in different places they play.

Speaker 6:

Ben all the time, so they don't really have to deal with that.

Speaker 9:

Yeah, you're absolutely right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's been my struggle for four years, trying to figure out these greens. Is that what it is? Yeah, that's what we're going to do here, here, good stop, back home, back home, people are scared.

Speaker 1:

Course management. Remember these two words. Course management you pay for anybody, you know.

Speaker 9:

I won't name any names but for those that don't know, there's a little friendly competition about a month after Nationals between a few tours called the Players Cup, and I was moved up at the last second last year into sea flight and in that event played against somebody from a neighboring tour in Tidewater and I played really well that day and we took them to the limit and ended up having the match because of a few mistakes in the last two holes and I'm paired with one of those individuals tomorrow and it's kind of a thorn in the side and a little bird to get me going so we'll see if it can drive me and we'll have a little bit of fun and see what happens.

Speaker 1:

Well, let's hope so, and I wish you both the best of luck. And not only have luck, but enjoy yourself, have fun and make some new friends.

Speaker 6:

Thank you very much.

Speaker 1:

All right guys, thanks for coming out and don't spend all that money in one spot.

Speaker 6:

I've been told I'm buying drinks.

Speaker 1:

Yes, you'll be buying drinks and if you want to, you know there's a couple places that I can direct you to a few days later, if you want to know we take tips.

Speaker 2:

We take tips for the podcast and if you want to, drop off a couple bottles.

Speaker 9:

I'll give you the address for that so we'll celebrate with you. Yeah, no problem. Well, good luck, gentlemen.

Speaker 1:

All right, guys take care. Thanks so much. Imagine it $2,000.

Speaker 2:

I mean what would you next?

Speaker 1:

I don't know, I quit.

Speaker 5:

I mean yeah, yeah, you got to turn it to play, but even then, it's like I'm good now, yeah, what do you want to win? Right?

Speaker 1:

You got to put your headphones on.

Speaker 8:

I can't do that. I can't take them. You got to wipe it off.

Speaker 5:

You got to wipe it off.

Speaker 8:

You got to do that.

Speaker 1:

All right, tyrone, come on in bud. Tyrone, we're not live. We're not live. It's not on camera. Hey, you still ain't done it.

Speaker 7:

You got no camera, hey man I hope we just asked you man. No, can we tell that story? No, why man? Hey, it's there, where is it, look man your daddy ain't here though man, we let it stay with dead. But daddy, if daddy was dead, it would I'm all right, I'm here for it. Hey, tell em. There you go Y'all now look.

Speaker 8:

the story involves coffee and a fank.

Speaker 7:

I, I'm gonna tell the story. I you gonna be all right, bro. This is the story. We were out playing golf one day. All the brothers, here's son and my dad. You know, of course my dad will watch it. Okay, so we get on the particular home and the cart lady.

Speaker 7:

Come back, somebody Off with some coffee. Somebody said, put your finger in there, stir it up and make it sweet. Need to say we're looking at this lady put her finger in that coffee. Yeah, my dad. Yes, he was, so I Don't see. And then his son's there too now, and my dad, they, we all look at this, so he come back over to get the coffee.

Speaker 1:

Hey.

Speaker 2:

Oh, but to be fair, I probably would do the same thing.

Speaker 5:

Oh.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, that means he's taught us on right, though right. When something funny is gonna happen to somebody else, don't say a word.

Speaker 7:

But it was so funny. You know we don't have a whole lot of. We always have fun and you know we just enjoy it and most of time things happen, you know, before then we went with dad right, right and so Stinged Five fun themselves to right now they think about it when can we go to eat?

Speaker 1:

Just don't get the chicken, he's a finger here. Who told you?

Speaker 7:

about the chicken you did, oh my.

Speaker 5:

God.

Speaker 7:

I did oh man, he was a bubblegum for the chicken. Yeah oh man, yes, I did, oh move. Yeah, ain't no telling you the name they gave me. But let's say you got to begin with the S and then he ends with the IT. No, ooh, ooh, you don't know. All right, we appreciate it, I do.

Speaker 1:

We'll see you, guys and we'll catch up with you later, all right? All right, gentlemen.

Speaker 7:

I can see you all being one of the cleanest.

Speaker 8:

Sorry, man hey.

Speaker 1:

You still got the trophy, though right, you still have that trophy. You owe me some money, come on.

Speaker 7:

Come on, come on. You owe me some money. You can't tell me what to do. We'll play, you play.

Speaker 5:

You want to call 911. That's on the public there you go.

Speaker 7:

What's that?

Speaker 2:

Huh, no man, it wasn't as bad as we thought you won.

Speaker 5:

You want to get on At the very beginning. Yeah you won, absolutely put that one down.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's a very beginning. Yeah, you won.

Speaker 1:

And then you speak real close. There we go tell, tell everybody who you are. And it's your first time here. Right, we talked to you. It was it was January when you won the, the regional, at the ice break.

Speaker 12:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

And did you have it have a good season after that?

Speaker 12:

or did it really not matter, because you already won and I should have played more, but I was thinking off, I had already won.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, well, I'm glad you made it back down and get your tour director see over here with us the best tour director and. Right.

Speaker 8:

See that's what I'm talking about right there, and that's one of my best players, these he's ready this year. We ready, we ready. But this year our goal is to move up that ladder. Yep, so we got some horses.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, how many guys you got 25. Yep, that's again. That's really kind of what you need. You got to be three or four deep at least, yeah, to have a good shot at it. That's that's, that's, that's key you know.

Speaker 8:

so the goal for us this year is my champion, my champion, a flight. I only got one player eat, but I know they're gonna play well. The rest of us got to bring up the slack, yep, and I'm counting on Melissa, right there yeah.

Speaker 1:

Well, you See flight players here today and and again. I keep saying the same thing. I think, see, flight has the best rotation courses you know, with Atlantic Dunes and Country Club. I think you guys are in the best spot.

Speaker 2:

I wouldn't move down the sea flight.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, I want to go back to see you, know you know there's no moving back for you. So Tim is like this what do you don't understand, chris, is this you know I started in sea Yep, I Won't see. A couple times I even came to national's and on the last day I was sitting one stroke off the league and I got the whole number 15 and looked at the leaderboard. With that shit I've done.

Speaker 8:

Oh, no, and I went and I went triple, triple, double and drop and drop from fourth place All the way down to a ten-way tie for 19 and because I had the highest score, I got paid out in 29 spot. You know I was.

Speaker 12:

That was one of the things I didn't do when I was playing. I knew was close. I never looked at the score because that would have threw me totally off.

Speaker 8:

Yeah so my goal now is the only look when I get to number nine and hold 15. After that, I'm done. I don't look anymore. I don't really not looking 15. I just want to see where I'm, if you don't know.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, like you don't know that, you need to maybe maybe take a chance, yeah or not. Take a chance, right? Yeah, that's key.

Speaker 8:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

So what are? The tournament?

Speaker 12:

you played this year in relation to the.

Speaker 1:

Yes, ma'am.

Speaker 12:

I Think I played about five tournaments with the tour this year. That was pretty good. I didn't play a lot. I played another like Scrambles right, yeah.

Speaker 1:

so what was last? What last time you played in tournament?

Speaker 12:

I just played in a tournament on. Actually played on Friday, saturday and Sunday. So you, so you're torn ready and tournament ready, but this is a different type of pressure. The termines I played in were best ball, whoever.

Speaker 1:

There's no pressure.

Speaker 12:

Yeah, this golf course country club in the rock.

Speaker 1:

You'll be fine and just go in there, lose, relax and play golf and have fun.

Speaker 12:

I'm looking forward to it good luck.

Speaker 1:

So much for doing is talking to you. All right Bye, thank you. All right, we got our regular guest here. He's back. He made it.

Speaker 14:

What's going on, guys? How are you Good yourself? Yeah, doing good.

Speaker 1:

Luke, welcome bud, you made it.

Speaker 14:

Yeah, yeah, first time on Nationals. I'm quite excited.

Speaker 1:

Exactly, and I didn't text you this, but I was looking at pairings and you're paired with Joe Jasper, so you're welcome. That's chitchat.

Speaker 14:

Oh yeah, yeah, it's going to be a great day, and I'm not sure if you looked as well, I'm paired with Andrew Beus so you can talk.

Speaker 1:

Andrew, so 62, and Mr 62 and Joe Jasper.

Speaker 14:

Yeah, and see, look, I'm excited to play with Andrew because he's a hell of a player. I know he's going to be up there at the top of the leaderboard and normally he beats me by three to five shots and if he's at the top of the leaderboard I'm with the three or five shots.

Speaker 1:

You're going to be having a good night.

Speaker 14:

So I'm hoping he plays really well in the trend hole.

Speaker 1:

But have you played Jones Squash yet?

Speaker 14:

I played it when I was in college, when I was 18.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so you know what you're getting into.

Speaker 14:

I don't know what you're getting into I know kind of the general layout and looking at pictures online it's like, yeah, I remember this whole and we're playing there all three days, which is nice. So obviously any golf course you play more, you get to know, you get to learn it just a little bit better.

Speaker 2:

Right, I mean you won't get a sight struck with the beautiful views and all that that would be good.

Speaker 14:

I mean, hey, it's hard to not get sights around here, exactly.

Speaker 1:

And the other good thing is you know you're starting to hold one, so you're playing the true course. You know, not necessarily you know you're still playing all 18, but you're starting on six or something and you're actually playing the true course.

Speaker 14:

Yeah, no, it's exciting. I was hoping that the $20 Bell I stable to the pairing committee. I was hoping that I was going to do a little bit of influence. I think it did.

Speaker 2:

So I'm very glad to see that $20 and a stamp.

Speaker 1:

Well, there you go, there you go. So I didn't tell Chris that. You know, if he did that, did a two day and he said he's not doing that, not, not that early, no, not that early.

Speaker 14:

No, okay, all right. Well, when you get it, I want to say information on the first two day. All right, make sure I've got nothing going on that we come out and God knows where. Yeah you travel so much. Yeah, yeah, we'll work it, we'll work it out.

Speaker 14:

The thing that killed me was a lot of your events conflicted with ours in Chicago Right or the weeks I was traveling. I have work commitments where you know I could go somewhere and you know, get the, get the golf and the play and all that, yeah, I mean that's the whole point of this tour is if you do get the travel.

Speaker 2:

If you do get the travel, we get to play.

Speaker 14:

Yeah, yeah. I mean I can tell you this, I've done a lot of travel this year. I spent a lot of nights on the road. The, the assistant director up in Chicago, Brad Rusack, and I are traveling together this week and we're going from hotel to hotel. We had a great night of Raleigh last night. They came out this morning. You know he's checking out the hotel rooms. I'm like, hey, this is just like regular stuff right now. Right, Exactly.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so you should be fine, you know as we can.

Speaker 14:

Yeah, you know it's it's. It's kind of hard to come into Nashville to say it feels like a normal week, but how playing at home is felt more abnormal than playing, you know, five states away this year, right.

Speaker 1:

You're like waking up in your own bed and then going to the course is not normal.

Speaker 14:

No, no, it's kind of where it throws me off. I mean it's to. I mean it's to stare at the ceiling and think about it as self-wear. The hell am I at right now?

Speaker 7:

But when I?

Speaker 14:

wake up, I see my ceiling. We got well. Wow, I'm actually home.

Speaker 1:

Exactly, exactly. Well, luke, thanks so much for joining us tonight, absolutely. It's really good to see you, as always, Yep Um uh it's really nice to put a face to the name, yeah. Looks like. I'm sorry, but it looks like we got Scott Allen. Looks like Scott Allen found a gold coin in his bag. Yeah, and you know what that means, don't you?

Speaker 14:

Yeah, it's got free. National next year Free national next year.

Speaker 1:

Scott Allen, if that's you, please bring me that coin.

Speaker 2:

I need to see that coin. Scott Allen, I hope he didn't leave.

Speaker 1:

All right, Um, hey, hey, Jen, All right, we first off. Jen, come on in here. We got to get your picture in here. Everybody this is this is my wife, Jen. She takes care of all the support. Looks like Scott Allen has the gold coin.

Speaker 2:

Thanks bud, I appreciate it Take care.

Speaker 5:

Oh well, congratulations, Scott Are you um.

Speaker 1:

So I don't know if he's live, but if he is, scott, uh, please come see us.

Speaker 2:

If that's the Scott Allen I think of, from Dallas.

Speaker 11:

He's a. We have one from.

Speaker 10:

DC and one from Dallas Right.

Speaker 2:

He's a sea flight national champion Couple of years back because, uh, he was my partner in the two man and he won and I said thanks, but I know your back certain.

Speaker 1:

Thanks All right, just just just so that you have it All right, chris. Well, we've been at this for awhile and, um, let's, uh, before we wrap it up, let's, let's just talk about a few things. So everybody, um is understanding what's what's going on. We've got uh, so so tomorrow everybody is at 830 shotgun, except for Atlantic dunes. You're a nine o'clock shotguns and the cup course is, is it? Uh, um, we're going to say 815. We need every. If you're at the cup course, the, the Palmetto hall cup course, the Palmetto hall cup course, if you're in the A flight and you're playing Palmetto hall, the cup course, tomorrow, you need to be in your cart by eight o'clock. So that's one change. Everybody else is a 830 shotgun. So be, be in your cars by 815, except for Atlantic dunes, and they'll be in touch with you for that.

Speaker 1:

Okay, cool, um, chris is going to be hanging out, uh, over here at the at the Hills course, after the round. If you see him, uh, he's going to interview you for for future, for future, broadcasts. Um, after rounds, come back over here to the Hills course for lunch. Saturday is picture day after the round. Uh, come back over here for for for pictures. This is going to be our, our, our, last live for the weekend. We're we're pretty busy, um, so I appreciate all everybody's. Come to business.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean it was a great um experiment. I guess we could say for us Uh, it's only going to get better, I can't wait to do more, but I mean it was, it was a blast.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we've got some things coming for for uh next year. We're going to hang tight and tell after an after championship to let you guys know what's going on. But uh, but yeah. So if you, if you see Chris after the rounds on on Friday, saturday and Sunday, make sure you see it and he'll do a quick interview for you and get you on it related broadcast. Yup, wish everybody the absolute best of luck. Have hope you have a ton of fun. Uh, play well, make new friends and enjoy yourselves. Yup.

Speaker 2:

Good luck to everybody out there All right guys.

Speaker 5:

Take care yeah.
