Speaker 1:

Chris, I hope you made it home safely.

Speaker 2:

I did. It was a long day. I had a couple layovers I had to deal with but needless to say I'm glad to be back home. I know my boys were happy. My wife was ecstatic for me to be back. So fun trip like always, but glad to be back in my own bed.

Speaker 1:

It was a long week for us working, but it was a lot of fun and can't wait to get into this episode and tell everybody all about it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's going to be a fun one. All right, let's get it started. Welcome to the golf week. Amateur tour of the podcast.

Speaker 1:

We are your hosts, tim Newman and Chris Rocha. As the oldest and largest amateur golf tour in the country, we put on individual stroke play golf tournaments that are handicapped by flights in 48 markets across the country. The golf week amateur tour, where amateurs play like pros. The golf week amateur tour, where amateurs play like pros. There's another national championship is in the books. It was great weekend, you know. The weather was great. It was good seeing all the players, glad you made it home safely after our Sunday and all the festivities.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it was nice to see and hang out with more directors. You know, being part of that backstage, I guess you can say it was a good time. Can't wait till next year. I already counted down the days. Tournament was great, you know. I played probably way better than I expected to. Weather really confused me. I didn't know if I was cold so I kept my hoodie on, or if I was sweating and hot because of my hoodie on. And then some things started falling from the sky I've never seen before in like maybe 10 years. So I made it a little wet, but it was a fun time.

Speaker 1:

Especially whether Thursday and Friday was a little iffy and Saturday and Sunday started off a little chilly, but it you know, in the afternoon it was beautiful weather. Some were shining Birds were chirping, Lots of birdies. A couple of holland walkers on Sunday.

Speaker 2:

Apparently there was an eclipse that happened and nobody could see it because of the clouds. It was great.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's a. I'll tell you my clip story from a few years ago. You know another time, but yeah, apparently there wasn't an eclipse. You know for us. You know playing and working to me, that was probably the first thing from my mind.

Speaker 2:

You know, I would think so too, but my writing partner was really excited to see it. He even brought eclipsed sunglasses. He was hoping to get a good view and then the clouds ruined all that for him. But no, it was. It was a great time. You know, I don't mind whether I mean we've talked about whether before and we we over here in El Paso play and some crazy weather events, but that's the first time I've ever been confused with what we were dealing with. So it was nice. It was nice. It was great conditions and you know I enjoy just sitting out on the porch and listening to the rainfall. It just calms me. So maybe that helped.

Speaker 1:

Well, it made me do it because you played really well and it was good to see you know, but you also had, you know, this was the first for you know, for for us more than a number of things, but you know, you really got kind of got to see some things going behind the scenes. You got to walk around and interview some players and also got to interview the national champion.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that that was actually fun. You know, I'm not going to lie, I was. I was a little nervous when you handed me the two mics and said, hey, we need to get some interviews and I was like, okay, well, time to get away from the computer screen and actually in the people's faces. But no, it was a great time. You know, I was. I was glad I was able to get all the national champions. They were so excited to to be interviewed, or even beyond the podcast, and their family members were asking you know how can they listen to it? This and that. So it was a good time. You know, hopefully next year we can do a little bit bigger, get more interviews in as we get our name out there a little more. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And what we'll talk about some of our other first, you know at the end, but let's go ahead and and here are, some of the players and national champions had saved this weekend.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, let's get started, all right, we have interview one with Rick DeWiler, Philadelphia Metro Tour. Rick, how are you doing today? I'm good.

Speaker 2:

How are you doing Good, so how'd your round go today? What courses do you?

Speaker 3:

play. We played Hampton Hall. Ok, it was. It was a tale of two nines for me. When it was dry, I was playing really well. I think I was three over through the first six holes and then then the rain came and it got a cut sloppy. Yeah, I came undone. Well today, how'd you do?

Speaker 2:

I was plus three through 11. That's play well, and then made the turn in the rain further and I went triple, double bogey for all. Yeah, rain got me too, yeah, and I'm not used to rain, mark Martin, so you will pass the guys when I used to rain. No, no, but how are you enjoying the national championship atmosphere in the next life?

Speaker 3:

Yes, it's fun, this is fun, but I didn't come in with the expectations of winning or doing anything grand. You know was finished in the middle. The pack would be great for me and I'll be happy with that. So, and besides, I'm not at work. I'm playing golf, which is better than being at work. Where did you end up with today?

Speaker 4:

Never mind, all right, we'll go with that. I knew one.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it was. It was something not good. It was more than 15 over and you know what? There's still two more days to do something. That's right. Yeah, so anything can happen, that's right. Tomorrow we're shooting seven over, getting right back in the hunt. There you go.

Speaker 2:

So we're going to get Mark Woodwin next.

Speaker 4:

He's a very good friend of mine. He used to be at our tour. He decided to ditch us for a job.

Speaker 5:

Yes, yes, yes, I moved from El Paso to Red in Pennsylvania, so, but I still suck with. The El Paso tour Did pretty well, even though Chris did beat me in the B flight in El Paso. I finished third but convinced Rick that you just talked to and who I rode with a friend named Cliff Zimmerman from the Philly Metro Tour as well. So experience the national championship. So it's a, it's a great time, it's. It's so cool to see other players from different local tours and get to know them.

Speaker 4:

Right, yeah, I mean, each day you have a different glee. Awesome.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, get to meet new people and next year when you come by, and hey, we feel lost shirt.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, fun to have, yeah.

Speaker 5:

No, and if anybody out there hasn't done a regional tournament as well. So I know, chris, you and I we've gone and played TPC Scottsdale. We've done that one. I was lucky enough I was in Williamsburg. I did the regional tournament out in Williamsburg as well. But that's another way to kind of meet people from other tours and, you know, have some fun. See some other courses as well.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, definitely how was your run today how? About well.

Speaker 5:

I know you're smiling because you be my two. I know we shot, but I shot 84 today, so started off with a triple and then proceeded with four pars after that. So so can't complain. But I guess it's just more frustrating that you be me by two and I thought that time better.

Speaker 4:

No, it's great, it's a good thing. Yeah, well, you'll enjoy the rest of your weekend. Yeah, I think I'll be playing with you guys the next few days and we'll have a tough awesome.

Speaker 5:

I appreciate your Chris. Nice, buddy, nice to meet you, man. Likewise.

Speaker 4:

We're here with Ben Devine, and from what? Washington DC? All right, ben, what flight are you in? I'm in a flight, a flight with courses you play today. Today we played Golden Bear. Golden Bear, did you enjoy it? Yeah, it was in great conditions. You think so. Is this your first national you've been to, or I was my second one? My second one, and how do you enjoy it? Oh, it's awesome.

Speaker 4:

They do such a great job putting on these events. All the local ones are awesome. All the competition is great, and then be able to compete and come down here and play against people from all over the country it's just incredible. You had a good built over your score, but you have a good or decent round. Today was just an OK round, but I could have done better. But it was just tough getting out of some of the lies. But three day tournament, anything can happen. Day two and day three had a good time, though it was still a lot of fun. Like I said, course was in great shape, so I appreciate you spending time with us. Good luck in the next couple of days.

Speaker 2:

Thank you, we'll hopefully see you getting some money out for it.

Speaker 4:

All right, yeah, I'm going to give it my best shot. I'll try. And where are we with here?

Speaker 6:

Milton Toreau. What tour Milton DC Metro. Ok, what flight are you in? B-flight, b-flight? Did you play Hampton all or did you play there? Played all the hills today? Ok, how'd that go? Not as well as I wanted it to. If you told me you wouldn't give me a million dollars if I hit a certain number, you'd be rich man Because your money would be safe, I mean, it's a great track, but for whatever reason, it just does not suit my eye. But I had a good time. I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm in B-Flight as well. I'm playing this course tomorrow, but you'll enjoy Hampton Hall. It's a course course. We're open, right.

Speaker 6:

Right, you'll have a good time. The honest truth, that's one of the reasons, one of the only reasons why I came down here, because that was on the circuit this year. So B-Flight, and I played it before in C-Flight and loved it. So I said I wanted to come down here and check it out again. But I mean, that's golf. I mean you play well one day and you come out and things blow up. But hey, you know what? That's where? It's a three-day tournament, exactly exactly. So you can't win it on a first day. No, you just hope to survive, correct, correct. So we'll get a little bit of that. Thank you, three days and we'll see you afterwards. Thanks, appreciate it and take care.

Speaker 7:

Who are we with Philly Metro Tour out of Pennsylvania? What's your name? Wayne Fisher? Wayne Fisher and Wayne, I hear you're leading the A-Flight Correct, all right, what did you shoot today? 71. 71. We're at. We were at Golden Bear oh Bear, one of my favorite courses here on the island. Really, yes, that was a great course. So we played it yesterday. We came down, a friend of mine, we drove down and I got here around lunchtime and put a practice round in, and so that was definitely helpful for today's round, knowing what club to fool at certain times, so yeah.

Speaker 2:

Well, that's good. So what do you look?

Speaker 7:

I mean where are you playing tomorrow? Tomorrow we're playing at Palmetto Dunes, ok, so that. Never played there yet. Looking forward to it. New courses, right, it's always fun to play, but yeah, like I said, never played it.

Speaker 2:

So how are the nerves going tonight, knowing that you're?

Speaker 7:

leading so far Right now. Honestly, I'm pretty calm right now. Ok, I feel very confident. Been practicing hard all year, working on my game a lot, so, yeah, pretty confident. But then again it's two more rounds, so we've got work to do yet. Not yet.

Speaker 2:

All right, well, good luck this weekend.

Speaker 7:

Hopefully we see you at the end winning some money and, taking on that trophy, appreciate it. Have a good one, sir.

Speaker 2:

All right, we have our champ flight champion, mr Joe Jaspers. We had him just recently on the podcast and he comes out and takes the victory. Thank you. So playoff and what I heard. You had to playoff how many holes? Just one hole.

Speaker 8:

One hole. Yep, you were able to pull it off. I was able to stuff it in there, close and make a birdie and come out with a win.

Speaker 2:

Nice, but did you have any? Did you feel any pressure, knowing that they were coming back at you pretty quickly?

Speaker 8:

Well, I didn't watch the scoreboard until late Okay Late in the day, but I started really the last, the second nine. I really started hitting the ball well, so I had some good birdie chances coming in, but I didn't realize that the Lance was making big rush at the end. Right, and I tell you what man that guy can play. He's going to be stiff competition coming up.

Speaker 2:

I think so. I think so. Second last year, second this year.

Speaker 8:

Yeah, he's got the tour. He's got the tour low round 62, I think, right, you know that's, yeah, that's good stuff.

Speaker 2:

Well, congratulations. This is the number, how many? This is number seven, lucky stuff.

Speaker 4:

There you go. Did these guys have a chance for?

Speaker 8:

one. Hey, I you know there's a lot of great players out here and you got to really play well to win this thing, so it's a lot of fun. The competition is just phenomenal, and it gets better every year.

Speaker 2:

Well, we appreciate you on the podcast last time. I appreciate it again. Congratulations, enjoy it. Thank for having me. All right, so we have our A-Flight champion who we got with us Eric Whitworth, eric.

Speaker 9:

Whitworth. What from what tour I'm from? The Charlotte tour, North Carolina.

Speaker 2:

And congratulations number one, Thank you. How do you feel?

Speaker 9:

Relieved for sure, today was a battle.

Speaker 2:

Was it really For sure? What did it come down to? How many, how many showed.

Speaker 9:

Came down one by one, came down to the 18th hole, the par five, and I was up on over Wayne Fisher, who played just amazing today, and snuck it out by one. There you go.

Speaker 2:

But now you can breathe sigh of relief. Three days of golf. Was this your first national championship? This was yes. So was this your first time coming, or how many times have you been coming to the tournament?

Speaker 9:

This was my first year on the tour, so this was my first year of it Right on the gates. That's right, Did I get you? I know Time to play here you come.

Speaker 2:

Sam Flight, here I come. Well, congratulations. Anything that you want to say to your fellow A-Flighters Further from this?

Speaker 9:

weekend man. Everybody played great. It's a very well-run tournament. Kudos to Dennis and all the tour directors for putting all this together. I know how much work goes into it, but really good players out here. It was not easy from the get-go, so congrats to everybody and all the other winners.

Speaker 2:

Well, congratulations. I'm glad you enjoy it and we'll see you next year. Thank you very much. All right, we're here with our B-Flight champion, kevin Ingram, from Nashville. First off, congratulations. Thank you very much.

Speaker 10:

How do you feel? I'm ecstatic right now. I'm actually really excited Coming to this, not really planning most of these leagues. I thought I'd give it a go. Jeff Reached out to me on Facebook, signed up what a great golf league this is no matter where you are, you just meet great people. I even play twice, three times a week with other people on the tour and other flights. It's always about really getting together and playing golf. Right, that's awesome.

Speaker 2:

So you went, I believe was 76 or 78?, oh, and a 90? 78, a 90, and then I had a 76 afterwards, so after you're 90, what were your thoughts on your chances of even coming back and trying to? You wanted to know the truth.

Speaker 10:

Yeah, I said to my girlfriend a lovely message. That's here on this lovely holiday with me. I told her not to speak about golf. I'm done with golf, I'm finished. I left here, had a nap and we went out shopping for a watch, went for dinner and I literally fell asleep while watching a nice film with an eight o'clock and woke up this morning to a lovely breakfast and thought I'd knock it out. Why not? My hopes were to finish top 10. Right, and it just happened today that some of the people at the top they started folding on some of the harder holes at the end because we started on number three, not number one. And I come in there you go. Simple as that, really it's until the wire. I think it was tied. Second, there was five of us. I tried not to look to the leaderboard all the way to the end. Then what guys that I was playing with? You just need to par out and you're in good shape. So Well, congratulations, thank you.

Speaker 2:

We talked about this earlier and you wanted to mention the Ryder Cup, so go ahead.

Speaker 10:

Yeah, come on, you know what I mean. I did that for England. Ride a cop. Now this he's like two new to England right now. Someone needs to come back next year and knock me off my pedestal there you go.

Speaker 4:

You all heard that first. I'll be coming out and trying to knock you up as well, but we're going to get that going all right.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I know that's what I'm going to do Congratulations. Thank you very much. All right, we're here with Ryan Samples, our sea flight champion for 2023. Ryan, how does it feel?

Speaker 11:

It feels great. I put a lot of hard work into getting it. It was a good time.

Speaker 2:

Cool. So congratulations Going in today. Were you coming in as a leader? Were you behind? Walk us through your final round.

Speaker 11:

Sure, so starting the day, I was four back. Ok, four back to start the day, struggled early, put it together on the back. Nine to kind of finish it. How many strokes?

Speaker 2:

did you win by Two, by two strokes. So when did you know that you were going to be a national champion?

Speaker 11:

The scoreboard flipped. Sitting in 18 fairway. Ok, I flipped. I had a one shot lead and the leaders were still behind me. Ok, so I had probably 20 minutes later.

Speaker 2:

And then the whole relief, the sigh of relief, right, right, the whole relief of it. That's good. Well, congratulations. We hope to see you back next year to defend your title, whether it be C-Flight or B-Flight. You know, usually the national champion, the next flight is on the horizon, but congratulations and enjoy the moment. Right, I appreciate it. All right, and last but not least, we have our D-Flight champion, michael Ray. Michael, congratulations.

Speaker 12:

Thank you, sir. I appreciate it how you feel. I feel great. Honestly, it feels awesome, especially after last year's debacle on the final nine.

Speaker 2:

What happened?

Speaker 12:

last year. Give us a quick summary. I was in the final grouping, I was in fifth down four brought it back down to one and then melted down on the last nine and I ended up getting 11th, but I knew I had to finish the business.

Speaker 2:

Right and that experience paid off.

Speaker 12:

Yes, sir, absolutely 100%.

Speaker 2:

So going in today were you leading?

Speaker 12:

Were you behind? I was leading by three today. Ok, so I just needed to play good course management, keep the ball in play and just make sure I minimize my mistakes. Great.

Speaker 2:

And I mean you got the group with the leaders. Yeah, so as long as you're beating them, you know you're at least beating the player right behind you.

Speaker 12:

Yes, sir, anything could happen, that's right. Have you ever looked at the scoreboard? No, not until the final hole. Ok, and at that point I was up six. Oh, so nothing could happen. Nothing could happen. It was a nice last hole to finish on, right, right. At that point you can just swing freely.

Speaker 2:

No tension?

Speaker 12:

no, nothing. Yes, sir, absolutely Well, congratulations, Thank you. Can't wait to see you next year. Oh, I'll be here, see you play. Oh yeah, see you play. Better, watch out, I'm coming, I'm coming. You're the challenge, sir, I appreciate you.

Speaker 1:

I'm really glad that you got to interview all the national champions this year. That's the first Because, being our. You know we're getting ready into our second year of doing this and last year we only got two. I think two or three of them Right now we got, you know, you got to talk to all five and you know it's great to really be able to capture them. You know, right after you know, winning such a such you, winning national championship, which is such a big and tough accomplishment, oh yeah, definitely.

Speaker 2:

You know it was non-stop. You know your interview one and you look up and you're already down to the top 10 of the next flight. So I need you to slow down a little bit next year because, uh, he got me running around like crazy, um, but no, it was great to grab them, you know. You know they took the picture with Dennis, he took your pictures with their directors and then I kind of just gave him a heads up like, look, I'm gonna steal you. After you get your award you do a quick interview, um, and they were all. They were all more than happy to do it. You know, couple quick questions Knocked it out and then let's get the next one in here. So it was a good time, it was really enjoyable and, like you said, I'm glad we were able to get all five of them this year and hopefully we can do a Better next yeah, you know, you know we, you know, I think we really you and I learned a lot from this weekend.

Speaker 1:

You know we had a bunch of firsts. You know we did our first live broadcast, yep, and then we did a second one, you know, the next day at the registration party, and which was great, you know, for me, some of the things that you know I really enjoy was those interviews. You know, you know, first, you know, being able to talk to some directors, get some of their perspectives and some things that that really highlighted their years.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it was a great time, you know, getting just having One after another director just come and hang out with us for a little bit. It was good to see the format we had for the directors meeting this year More collaboration, you know, getting to know people that you probably really don't get to see often From different parts of the country. So it was a great time. And then, like you said, you know, the interviews during the welcome party, just people coming in sitting down hanging out with us. You know the two little kids that just wanted to be on the podcast. Yeah, I'm glad we made time for them because you know there is no age limit for for our tour and if we can encourage them, who knows what the future could hold for for anybody that may be listening. Or you know you're in the car with your dad or mom listening and do you want to be part of what a great tour we host.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and you know the the real funny thing about those there's two kids is they're they're related to James Brothers.

Speaker 2:

I wouldn't have questioned that one bit With the way that they're just outgoing, just like the James Brothers. You know, it was great to finally put a Face to the or not a face, but a person to the to the screen that we saw, may I, I'm gonna have to hang out with them next year because they they're gonna be a hoop and and the story you know, just Class, class, classic story.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we're not gonna tell it here, but it was it. It was pretty funny.

Speaker 2:

I mean it was great. It was great. I'm glad that they were able to do that and you know, it just shows how much Trust our listeners put into us to be able to have those conversations and not get really upset about it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, so where were some other things that that you really enjoyed from the week?

Speaker 2:

you know, it's just always a good time. It's always a great time to to see people you haven't seen. You know, on the range I saw a handful of people that I I met last year, my first year, trying to be flight. You know, just asking how we're doing, you know what, walking through the welcome party and through the lunches and just Talking about the podcast and how great we've done. Those are the moments that I enjoy because, you know, at the end of the day, golfs, golf and you're gonna have a great day. You can have a bad day, but being able to hang out with friends that you've met on the golf courses is even better. You know I had Nine great golf partners in the three days. Not one issue, you know. Yeah, did we have our string of bad holes? Of course everybody does, but the encouragement, I'm gonna tell you this.

Speaker 2:

On day one, tim, I was in a different zone. I mean, I could have been in the 70s easily if it wasn't for the rain that I did not know what did, what to do with. But through a stretch of two or three holes it was, it was bogey or worse, and one of my playing partners came up to me and said hey, I see your potential, I know how good you can play. Let's get your head out of here, you know what, and start playing some golf. We got four holes to go and you know encouragement like that from people that you're trying to compete again. No, no, is what this this is all about, because, yeah, they're worried about their score, but they also can see what the other guys can do and encourage them to keep it up.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know that's a really good story. I'm glad that you know that's still out there and you did have a really good round on on. Well, you had three, three good rounds, but you did have a really good round on Friday and to have one of your like said your playing competitors to encourage you to, you know, to get back on track Again. That goes back to what the tours all about and and that's that's good to hear that you know that there are people out there Like that it's not, it's not a cut-through. Haha, he's doing bad. Now I'm gonna take advantage of it.

Speaker 2:

You know there's that encouragement, that camaraderie right, yeah, and you know it's hard to find. I mean, I remember I had a Denver member come to one of our events this year. Great guy, you know, said hope, you know, hopefully you come back playing in our events. And At one of the luncheons he just pulled me aside and it's like hey, how you doing. You know how's it been, how's the rest of season? Like, just like we had. Like we saw each other last week, invited me to dinner on on Sunday and just to go hang out with him and his wife, and it was a good time.

Speaker 2:

You know, being able to see that, being able to see guys from Louisiana that I met a couple years back, seeing guys from the regionals that I went to this year, seeing them, that's what brings everybody together and, like I said, I can't wait till next year. Hopefully I can bring a bit a bigger team so we can compete in that team cup. But, um, if not, I'm gonna go out there and do my best. Yeah, we'll see. Maybe, maybe a flight Well, you should be an A flight button, that's for sure. I mean, that's the goal is to keep getting better, yeah, but I enjoyed you coming to our party on Friday night.

Speaker 1:

You know kind of gives you an idea of, of, you know how big, you know how big that family is. Yeah you know the number of different tours that showed up to that, that the it was really great to see everybody together.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I appreciate you inviting me. It was a great time. You know, I was sitting there watching some of the football game that was on TV and one of your members stopped by and just started chatting with me and apparently he was stationed in Fort Bliss in the 90s so he knew all about El Paso, he knew about our craziness, he knew about how welcome we are and we were just talking about that Playing golf related, just about El Paso and how great it was, and you know he wouldn't live here again but he'd come and visit if he needed to. I met another gentleman that's. His son plays football for, I believe, louisiana Tech, la Tech, and they're in the same conference as the UTEP minors.

Speaker 2:

And you know, just talking with him and he says he travels everywhere his son goes to play. He says I'll be here every and I'll pass on. Next time Give me a call, we'll go play some golf, we'll hang out, go have some tickets, some good dinner spots, and you know, just things like that, to where you open those doors to meet new people and have those connections, is just great. So I really do appreciate you inviting me. I know Cephas was there and that was a sight to see without his head on yeah.

Speaker 1:

Again how you know why.

Speaker 2:

Where's that Jesus? I mean, it's not bad, don't get me wrong. It's not bad, but I was thinking, with the amount of gadgets he has on his cart and that hair, he could be the mad hatter of golf for us of directors. Yeah, but no, I really do appreciate you inviting me. It gave me something to do and you know, sunday afterwards, just getting to know the actual national office was a good time as well.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think we have a new contest. You know we'll roll out the details on that next episode, the one after that. I think we're gonna have a new contest for this year and the winner will win free atrients and national championships. That was born from Sunday night.

Speaker 2:

And yeah, I mean it's still gonna be in the works. I think the talk is still gonna be in the works, but get ready, get ready, because it's going to be a challenge to complete this task. I can't wait to see.

Speaker 1:

I can't either. It was really funny. Well, yeah, I'm not going to get into too much. A lot of things were. You know, we always have a good time after everything wraps up on Sunday, but it was a lot of fun. A lot of things that were said and done were pretty funny. Yes, and we're still trying to sort some of those. There's that, but yeah.

Speaker 2:

Good look on that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so maybe we don't want to sort it out in that way. We could just still laugh about it and have a good time with it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'd leave it as it is. I mean, I was the outsider looking in and I'd still leave it as it is.

Speaker 1:

Well, yeah, we'll just leave it there, no more comments on that. And then you know, from Sunday, then we transition into the senior national championship and then, so next episode, we'll talk to some of those champions and you know, before you know it, 2024 is going to start.

Speaker 2:

Yes, you know. I wish good luck to all the directors in the next couple of weeks who are finalizing their schedule. If not haven't started yet, me, yeah, good luck. Get ready to get your registration. I know a lot of tours do like December giveaways or December challenges for their members and you want to be a part of those, because sometimes you never know what they're going to give away and it could really help you throughout the season.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and you know, as he says, we start to book courses and things of that nature that everything's going to really fall into place and the first regional tournament is really right around the corner. We're 30, 60, maybe 75 days away.

Speaker 2:

Wow, that's crazy, that's insane how quickly it's going to be, especially with the holidays.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, oh, but hopefully that you know I see more this year coming up than just a national championship. You know that's a hint hint because it's going to happen, yep. Where we will end up, nobody knows yet, but we're taking this on the road, you know, at least a few times in 2024, and we'll keep our listeners surprised and we'll be doing some more live broadcasts from from regionals.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, get ready. If we do come to a city near you, come say hi, you know, maybe we'll get you. Get you on the mic and headphones, but get ready, because our craziness is going to be visiting a lot of places.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's going to be great and again, it's about getting out and talking to the members. You know, if you remember what I said at the party, you know we we maybe as a tour director and and make you know and run the tour and that sort of thing, but this tour is more about the players. It's you know, it's really a players tour than it is anything else and you know it's the players that are really driving the bus in terms of you know, we have tournaments and if we have a tournament in a place that they don't want to play, guess what? They don't show up, right. So we're having, we're giving players what they want, having tournaments, you know, at high quality courses where they want to come and play, and that's really what it's all about. So it's really good to get down and talking to and interacting with the players.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, definitely, definitely it's. Your feedback is welcome. I'm pretty sure you know I speak for most of the directors, if not all. Tell them what you like, tell them what you don't like, because if they don't hear it, they don't know what's going on, and if you want it, you're torn to get better. Let them know, because at the end of the day, that's just going to make everything better for everybody, exactly.

Speaker 1:

And, as always, if you have questions, you know for us, you know, feel free to email us. You can email me at Tim and ATC at amateur golf tournet and Chris at El Paso, at amateur golf tournet. All right guys, thanks for joining us. You know this over the course of this year and again, hopefully we'll be talking to some senior national champions next time, and Chris has always. It's great getting together with you and I really enjoyed our time together in Hilton Head.

Speaker 2:

Likewise, it was a great time. I don't think I've laughed that hard in a while. Can't wait. Like I said, I'm already counting down the days and we're going to have a good time.

Speaker 1:

Well, one more thing before we go. I want to wish you a happy birthday. I'm glad you're home and you're going to spend it with your wife and kids and send them my best as well. And you know, eventually, whether they realize or not, you're going to have to drag them out to Hilton Head and they're going to be a part of this.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm going to have to figure out how to plan that out, because I know they would enjoy it at least for a couple of days before the tournament starts. Maybe send them home before that so I can focus. Yeah, good luck with that.

Speaker 1:

All right, my friend, you take care of yourself. And again, happy birthday to you and we'll talk to you soon. All right.

Speaker 2:

Talk to you soon. Bye.

Speaker 1:

Thank you.
